GötaFilm has since many years a good relationship with FILM I VÄST, our regional fund in the south west of Sweden. The Region Västra Götaland’s vision with Film i Västs operations is that it should in a substantial way contribute to establishing itself as a leading film region in Europe and to contribute to international co-productions and creating international exchange in the field of film production where Europe is prioritised. Film i Väst invests in individual film-projects of high quality but only through a Swedish co-producer. In order for a co-production to be possible, parts of the project’s production must take place in Region Västra Götaland in order to contribute to the regional development.

TYPE OF PROJECTS THAT...
has a clear profile and edge; is of European origin; has an international director connected to the film, i.e. the director has had some success or attention at other major festivals and/or commercial success; has a leading producer with an international track record, and with experience from international co-productions; has reasonable estimates that in the end makes it most likely for the financiers to recoup their investments.

GÖTAFILM INTERNATIONAL focus on co-productions where we take part as line-producer or minority co-producer for projects to be shot or post-produced in the west of Sweden.
GÖTAFILM (est.1988) is one of the leading independent film companies in Scandinavia and acts as a producer, co-producer and creator of feature films for cinema as well as drama and documentaries for TV. Productions from GötaFilm, sold and screened internationally, include among others The New Country (Det nya landet), We Can Be Heroes (Bäst i Sverige), Slim Susie (Smala Sussie), Details (Detaljer) and Offside. Our latest feature Ciao Bella, is competing in this years Berlinale, in Generation14+ and First Feature Film Award. GötaFilm is currently co-producing Jan Troell’s new feature film Maria Larsson’s Everlasting Moments (Maria Larssons eviga ögonblick), Samurai Summer (Samurajsommar) and Alarm an Irish-Swedish co-production.
